WIFM: WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME AS A CPNP VOLUNTEER?
Brenda Schimenti, CPNP Executive Director
You are probably like most professionals whose time is tight. You probably work more than 40 hours per week, have community commitments, family commitments, flights to catch and to-do lists that go on and on.
We get that. Stop for a minute though and consider all that you can gain by volunteering for CPNP such as the opportunity to:
-
Build a stronger profession.
-
Gain visibility and advance your career.
-
Build a personal network of colleagues.
-
Have a meaningful impact.
-
Improve your skills, knowledge and abilities as a professional.
-
Gain new perspectives and self-satisfaction.
Whether you can volunteer for an ad hoc assignment such as grading of abstract submissions or a more time-intensive editorial board position, we urge you to check out the volunteer opportunities detailed in the newly revamped CPNP volunteer center. You now have year-round access to your volunteer profile where you can tell us which activities you are most interested in and what time you can contribute.
OCTOBER SAVVY PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY ARTICLE
Thanks to our partnership with Current Psychiatry (CP) published through Quadrant Healthcom Inc., another CPNP Savvy Psychopharmacology article is featured in the October edition of Current Psychiatry. The goal of this section is to present an evidence-based discussion to guide safe, effective prescribing of psychotropic medications. James J. Gugger, PharmD, BCPP, Courtney L. Tam, PharmD, and Charles R. Ashby, Jr, PhD authored this month's article on Is there a link between aripiprazole and treatment-emergent psychosis?
A reminder that a special subscription price is available to Current Psychiatry, a monthly peer-reviewed publication, and the leading source of practical, evidence-based information for healthcare professionals treating psychiatric patients. Thanks to the CPNP partnership with Current Psychiatry, CPNP members can receive a year of Current Psychiatry at a cost of $24, over 77% less than the normal subscription rate.
